STAGE TWO: IMPLEMENTATION OF BANNER FINANCE

New Hampshire Community Technical College System Upgrades to a Real World Finance System

Manchester, NH- February 7, 2007- Immediately following the successful completion of upgrading Banner 6 Student to Banner 7, New Hampshire Community Technical College System and NBH Solutions are well on the way to successfully implementing Banner Finance, which will complete stage two of this administrative implementation/upgrade project.

It’s out with the old and in with the new, as NBH Solutions continues a year long project to remove the current accrual finance system that has been in place for fifteen years.  The current finance system allows for users to put anything they want into the system, the way they want.  The goal of Banner Finance is to give users a more tailored and structured system with real world controls and specific rules. Chief Information Officer, Richard Dockery, believes that despite the huge learning curve, an upgrade like this is absolutely necessary. “It’s absolutely beneficial and necessary. There is no way you are going to be able to survive without going this way- it’s a benefit and survival, you have to do this. You can’t survive on the old accounting systems, you can’t meet the reporting needs of government, state, and your own institution. It’s an absolute requirement to go this way.”

Banner Finance has a proven track record of successfully supporting typical higher education financial administrative processes within accounting standards through a flexible data architecture that simplifies the process of turning transactional data into financial summaries easily, quickly, and with a high degree of accountability. “Banner Finance will benefit the users by extending the information management capabilities of Banner from the existing Student and Accounts receivable system into financial administration through one integrated technology”, notes Chris Ramsay, Chief Finance Expert for NBH Solutions.

NBH Solutions approaches the upgrade of administrative systems with a framework that guides actions, decisions, and recommendations.  President and CEO of NBH Solutions, Richard Middaugh adds, “There is no magic in software. Benefits are a direct result of effective preparation, implementation, and appropriate use.”

Dockery is already witnessing the benefits and credits the expertise of NBH Solutions for keeping the project on track.  “I think its going really well and I think bringing us up to the 21st century in accounting, finance, and reporting is well over due.  This upgrade also puts us in the clear as far as everything is concerned and makes sure that we are doing business the way we are suppose to be doing business; meet the needs of the state, meet internal needs and regulations this way, where we weren’t before. Any new accounting standards that come forward, Banner will be able to keep up.”

NBH Solutions is right on target with all aspects of the project and is on track to meet their targeted go-live deadline in July.
